Paralegal Services

Expert legal representation for a variety of matters in Ontario

Who is a Paralegal?

A paralegal is a certified legal practitioner with the ability to represent clients in particular legal fields and offer legal services. In Ontario, paralegals must adhere to stringent professional standards and ethics as established by the Law Society of Ontario. They are qualified, covered by insurance, and permitted to offer advocacy and legal advice as part of their practice.

Paralegals are licensed legal professionals who can provide many of the same services as a lawyer, including legal advice, document preparation, and client representation before courts and tribunals. They are fully authorized to advocate on behalf of clients in Small Claims Court, at the Landlord and Tenant Board, in provincial offences matters (such as traffic tickets), and in various administrative tribunals. Paralegals can also represent clients in certain summary conviction criminal matters.

In order to help people, companies, and organizations handle legal issues effectively and economically, paralegals are an essential component of the legal system.

Bridging the Access to Justice Gap

The Ontario legal system has seen a growing demand for affordable and timely legal services. Paralegals play a critical role in filling this gap. With rising legal costs and backlogged courts, many Ontarians face barriers to accessing legal representation. Paralegals offer a practical and professional alternative for everyday legal issues, ensuring more people can receive the support they need.

The paralegal’s role continues to evolve, empowering individuals and small businesses to resolve disputes, assert their rights, and navigate the justice system without the high costs often associated with traditional legal services.
